McNeil is of Counsel at the firm. For more than 20 years, he held the post of Chief Financial Lawyer for the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office where his clients included senior Treasury, Commerce, Revenue, and the Banking Commission officials. His work included administrative, criminal and civil enforcement proceedings and lead counsel on all fiduciary litigation. Before his appointment to the Attorney General’s staff, McNeil was engaged in the practice of law with a focus on business, trust, estate and financial law and General Counsel for the North Carolina Banking Commission. Early in his career he was a wealth manager for two major North Carolina Banks.
In addition to the practice of law, McNeil is an Accredited Trust and Financial Advisor® and Certified Superior Court Mediator. He concentrates his practice on trusts and estates, exempt organizations, banking and financial matters and as a mediator for trust, estate, business, and general civil litigation.
McNeil earned his undergraduate degree in wealth management and law degree from Campbell University where he was a visiting professor of fiduciary law for 32 years.
